A lot of marketers ask, “how can I get more exposure from my social media?” That’s a great question to start from. But to get to there, you also need to ask a different question: How can I provide more value to the people (e.g. customers, vendors, partners) who are important to my company? Your customers don’t care whether you have more exposure or not. They don’t care about your corporate initiatives or your Facebook “like” count. They only care about what matters to them. Why should someone pay attention to a shopping center Twitter account? Why should someone read an insurance company’s blog? Why should someone share a car dealership’s Facebook post? The key to getting more exposure is figuring out what will make people genuinely care about what you have to share. Remember… No care. No share. No share. No care.
